The smallest piece shown above is a wonderfully 3-dimensional example of garfish. The toher two are believed to be cyclurus. A very rare find, this piece was bought as part of a large collection dating from hte early 1970's. A rare cahnce to obtain unprepared fossil fish from messel. rPeparation of these sought after fossils is relatively straightforward, however the real diffiulty with messel material is acquisition, since the site is no longer open to public collecting.
